Public comment sought on preliminary design of Hawthorne-Quinn Improvements

The public is invited to attend a public meeting on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, to discuss signal and roadway improvements to the intersection of Hawthorne and Quinn Roads.

The public meeting will be held at Wilcox Elementary School, 427 Lark Lane, in Pocatello, from 4-7 p.m. The meeting will be an open-house format that allows individuals to view information and visit with project staff anytime between those hours.  An ITD hearings officer will be available to take verbal comment from stakeholders.

The purpose of this public meeting will be to present current design plans for the intersection and gather input from the public about the improvements. Feedback from the public will help the project team complete preliminary design and move into final design. Illustrations of the proposed design will be on hand to view, and City staff will be available to answer questions and discuss the proposed intersection improvements.

“The Hawthorne-Quinn intersection has reached the end of its service life,” said Jeff Mansfield, Project Engineer with the City of Pocatello.  “The addition of a signal, turn lanes, bike lanes and sidewalks will provide adequate space and functionality for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians well into the future.  We’re looking forward to presenting our proposed design plans and hearing the public’s thoughts on the improvements.”

If you are unable to attend, but would like to provide feedback on the project, public comment is being accepted until May 15, 2015. For more information, or to provide comment, please contact Andrea Gumm at agumm@jub.com or by phone at (208) 870-8751.
